Our Story

Built in 1899, this 126-year-old heritage house has stood through generations of change in South Perth.

Once home to Stidworthy and Lucy, the house has seen many people, businesses and restaurants come and go. For more than a century, it has quietly watched South Perth grow and transform around it.
And today, we’re here to continue its story.

The 1899 House is more than just a café. We’re an Asian Fusion restaurant and a place where food, drinks, design and conversation come together.
Our coffee is custom roasted especially for us, alongside signature drinks such as our matcha creations and coffee-based specialties. Our menu brings together flavours from Vietnam, Thailand and Japan, with a few Western influences along the way.

But what matters to us goes beyond what’s on the plate.
We wanted to create a space that fills the gaps we’ve noticed across different dining experiences — somewhere with great food, beautiful drinks, thoughtful design and an atmosphere where people can actually slow down.
